After the abrupt resignation of Chancellor Phyllis Wise last week, the University of Illinois will name her interim replacement this week.
A Monday announcement said that the state’s flagship university’s executive committee will meet in Champaign-Urbana midweek. No names of a potential interim chancellor or future permanent replacement have surfaced, as of Monday afternoon.
Wise resigned amid multiple controversies, including an ongoing court case brought by a professor who had a job offer rescinded after anti-Israel Twitter posts came to light. Steven Salaita won a court ruling last week that said the lawsuit could proceed, with the U.S. District Judge in the case saying that the university had a contract with him when the job offer was rescinded.
