Director: Renewed Focus on Ag a Success at 2015 State Fair

The 2015 Illinois State Fair is in the books and the renewed focus on agriculture was a success, according to State Fair Director Patrick Buchen.

Fair vendors tell the State Journal-Register that their sales numbers were down, with some questioning the later start to this year’s Fair as a possible reason.

Neil Taft, of Rochester-based Taft’s Concessions, says he wonders if the later date caused a conflict with the beginning of the school year.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Illinois State Police says that beyond a fight that led to the stabbing of three juveniles on Preview Night, there were no serious crime problems on the Fairgrounds this year.
