Governor Rauner Signs Campus Sexual Assault Law

Governor Bruce Rauner has signed a bill to require colleges in Illinois to take further steps to prevent and respond to sexual assault.

The bill signed into law on Friday requires schools to provide a confidential advisor to sexual assault victims and adopt a fair process for investigating and enforcing consequences in sexual assault cases.

Colleges must also make victims aware of all options available to them to ensure their safety, including orders of protection, changes to class schedules, and campus housing arrangement changes.
