Head of Area Catholics Says Diocese Not Compromising in Effort to Bring More People Back to Church

Central Illinois’ Catholic bishop says if you’re not growing…you are stagnant or moving backward.
And, he says, many parishes in the diocese are unfortunately either moving backwards or standing still.

But, Bishop Thomas John Paprocki says he will not compromise on his beliefs to address the problem of Catholics wandering away from the Church. Paprocki will release his second pastoral letter to area Catholics this week, addressing the results of a survey that examines why people move away from their faith.

He says he’s asking Catholic clergy and parishioners to join him in creating a “culture of growth” throughout the diocese.
