Federal Judge Rules Community Care Program Must Be Funded Despite Budget Impasse

A federal judge has ruled that a program providing in-home care to seniors is covered by Medicaid and should be funded in Illinois, despite the budget impasse.

The Community Care Program serves about 89,000 seniors in the state, providing those individuals with homemaking assistance, which helps to keep them out of costly nursing home care.

A lawyer for the plaintiffs in the case says she doesn’t know exactly how much is owed by the state for the Community Care Program.
