AFSCME Contract Talks to Resume This Week

Contract talks between AFSCME and Governor Bruce Rauner’s administration are set to resume this week, but the union says the governor’s team continues to make unreasonable demands.

A “bargaining bulletin” obtained by My Social Jacksonville says Rauner wants to eliminate “step increases” based on longevity, and replace with merit-based raises.

The union says those merit raises are too subjective and prone to favoritism and office politics. Both sides have agreed to no work stoppage while the talks continue.
