There’s a temporary hold on Illinois accepting refugees from Syria.
In a statement Monday, Governor Bruce Rauner says Illinois must find a way to balance the state’s tradition of welcoming refugees while ensuring the safety and security of the state’s citizens.
Rauner says the news surrounding the Paris terror attacks from Friday reminds the state of the quote “all-too-real security threats facing America.”
The statement also says the state will consider all legal options pending a full review of the country’s acceptance and security procedures by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
