Rauner Administration Takes AFSCME Dispute to Labor Relations Board

Governor Bruce Rauner’s administration is taking the next step in the ongoing contract dispute with the state’s largest employees union.

The administration says AFSCME has “vehemently rejected” the latest proposal offered to the union and it will now move forward to the Illinois Labor Relations Board to determine the next step in the contract process.

Last week, AFSCME claimed that the administration’s negotiating team had declared an impasse to the contract talks, a claim denied by the Governor’s Office.

The tolling agreement between the union and the Administration says that there can be no “strike, work stoppage, work slowdown, or lockout” until after the Labor Relations Board rules on whether an impasse does, in fact, exist.
