Netflix Raising Subscription Fees Again

Two years ago, Netflix raised its monthly fee for most customers to $9.99, but “grandfathered” certain customers into the previous $7.99 a month rate… but that’s about to change.

Starting next month, those previously “grandfathered” $7.99/month customers are now also going to have to pay the $9.99/month rate. According to industry estimates, the move will affect about 37% of the Netflix customer base in the U.S., with some of those customers already eyeing a switch to competing services, such as Amazon Prime.

According to TIME.com, the new $9.99 per month rate for all customers now means that Netflix will end up being about $20 per year more expensive than the Amazon Prime service.
