Concert in the Cornfield co-chairs Paula Stewart and Kevin Eckhoff have announced that Craig Morgan will headline this year’s event.
Morgan, a Country music veteran, has scored seven top-10 songs in his career, including “That’s What I Love About Sundays”, “International Harvester”, and “Redneck Yacht Club”.
The eighth concert event, previously held as part of the South Jacksonville Celebration, will be held separately on Saturday, August 27th, one month later than the Celebration. Stewart and Eckhoff announced the change in February, telling the Jacksonville Journal-Courier that time and labor needs made it clear that the events needed to be separated, in order to ensure both events received the attention to detail that they deserved.
Stewart and Eckhoff say that changes to the concert this year include acts performing in the beer tent, as well as an earlier start time to the festivities. Stewart tells My Social Jacksonville that attendees at the 2015 event featuring Country legend Charlie Daniels told her that they wanted more music and suggested a longer day, which has resulted in gates opening in the mid-afternoon hours and music beginning in the beer tent prior to Craig Morgan taking the stage.
Country newcomer William Michael Morgan will open the main stage at 7PM and headliner Craig Morgan is scheduled to perform beginning at 8:30PM. Prior to the main stage show, Exit 52 will perform in the beer tent, followed by the Devin Clemons Band after the main stage show ends.
Tickets for Concert in the Cornfield will go on sale on Monday, July 11th and may be purchased at the South Jacksonville Village Hall, as well as at WJVO Radio’s studio on East Morton Avenue, and on the South Jacksonville website, southjacksonville.org.
