My Social Jacksonville Announces South Jacksonville Candidate Forum

February 27th event at South Jacksonville Village Hall will feature conversation on South Jacksonville issues with all contested seat candidates and will be open to the public.

MySocialJacksonville.com owner Colby Huff announces a candidate forum featuring all candidates for contested seats (Village President and three open Board of Trustees positions) in the upcoming consolidated election. All contested seat candidates – Harry Jennings, Dani Glascock, Kem Wilson, Paula Stewart, Greg Nelson, and Dick Samples – have confirmed plans to attend.

Huff says, “After attending a local candidate forum event held by another organization during the November election season and witnessing what I felt was an uninformative discussion, I wanted to give residents of South Jacksonville a stronger and more comprehensive event in this election. This is a vital election in the history of our community, as we choose a new Village President to lead us out of the remnants of an administration wrought with scandal and possible corruption, followed by an interim Village President, and into the next four years.”

The event, which will be held in the Board Room of the South Jacksonville Village Hall at 6:30PM on Monday, February 27th, will be open to the public.

Limited seating will be available at the event, but the forum will be streamed via Facebook Live on the My Social Jacksonville Facebook page, and will be archived for later viewing. Event attendees will be given the opportunity to not only submit questions to be screened prior to the start of the forum, but also the chance to ask unscreened questions of the candidates during the event. Questions will also be asked by a group of panelists, including representatives of the Jacksonville Journal-Courier and The Source newspapers and My Social Jacksonville. Additional panelists are still being considered. Additional questions will be taken from those viewing the Facebook Live feed and an open, candidate-led Q&A session will also be a part of the 90-minute event.
